Hi all

I have 100g tank, currenly have a 4 inch blue tang.
Would like to add a sailfin tang, please can i have some opinions on what size sailfin i should get in relation to the blue?

1. Similar
2. Smaller
3. Bigeer

hmmm idk thats a tough one, the blue tang since it seems its the only one in the tank at the moment will be dominant and territorial so maybe the sailfin should be smaller so its gonna be the beta and not dispute too much with the blue tang.... Or an acclimation box might work well...

There also is a 2 inch bristol tooth.
But yes blue is dominate.
I thought that theb thought if sail are not aggressive maybe larger is the way.
More thoughts appreciated

My yellow and sailfin tangs fight quite a bit. The yellow is definitely the aggressor, but the sailfin holds his own and will dispute the yellow tang. All and all they get along very well though.

Having 3 tangs in a 100g is a risky proposition. Besides the aggression issue, both the blue and sailfin are going to outgrow the tank. Unless you are planning to get a larger (180g ) in the next year or so or planning on catching and rehoming them, adding the sailfin now may give you some problems.

Also, I've always found zebrasomas to be pretty ornery. I would probably go same size -ish. But as stated above, 3 large tangs in a 100 gallon is going to be alot of aggression regardless.

I have a yellow and a sailfin in my 120 i also had a powder brown but that was too much so its just the yellow and sailfin for now... Ive had them for about a year and they were in a 40 gallon you should be fine with the blue and sailfin in a 100 gallon but i agree that eventually you need to look into a bigger tank because both can get huge!

Thanks guys,

Im not too attached to the Bristol Tooth so more then happy to remove him.
On the same note Im not going to keep fish that aren't comfortable and healthy in their environment.
When size becomes an issue I will rehome or upgrade tank.... Dont tell wife.....
Is the concensus same size sailfin the ressea is such an amazing looking fish.
