I never trusted those holes....
Instead i used a wide tipped fan nozzle and stuck one end up towards the waters surface. Broke the back siphon immediately and gave a nice little surface tension break.

Would have preferred that route but there isn't space with the return plumbing and didn't use loc line. So siphon break hole this go around =)

I always kept my sump pretty full so i never had much room for drainback. Needed that instant siphon break at the surface vs slightly below.
Hmm 1/8" has always worked for me. I just make sure it is on the back or bottom so water isn't spraying up when the pump is running

Just to clarify... 1/8" is working on your 1-1/2" return?
I apologize mine is a 1 inch return but works perfect when I turn the pump off to feed etc.
