Im just now getting into the hobby and i have ideas for fish id like to get but i dont know how many gallons ill need. I dont want to get a tank too big, maybe at max around 100 gallons, but id like to know some options for potentially smaller tanks.
Some of the fish id possibly like to get are
- Banggai cardinalfish
-Clownfish
-Foxface
-Chromis
-Sleeper blue dot goby
-Six line wrasse
-Yellow tang
Im not looking to get all of these fish, but if i were to pick fish id most likely pick out of that list.
Id like some recommendations on which fish for how many gallons. I was thinking about getting a 75 gallon, but open to getting a different size. Im not sure which/how many fish i should put in a 75. Like i said though, im open to recommendations on different size tanks, with not all of those fish.

With a yellow tang, you want at least a 4’ tank. The recommended minimum volume is usually 100 gallons. I have 3 tangs in a 300 gallon. Two of them are Kole and Yellow. They both use the whole tank. Tangs are highly active and rarely sit still. They are all the time moving around. That behavior makes them give a lot of “action” to a tank but it does require space.

Welcome to the hobby.
The foxface is a good worker for cleaning algae, but will get 6 to 7 inches, so 100 gallon minimum.
My 75 has more fish, but I run a refugium and skimmer for nutrient export.

6ft 125 would be your best bet with the yellow tang and foxface.

One thing to consider that does not come up enough is the battle with moisture in your home due to tank evaporation. If you live in a state with high humidity or in a historic home with wood floors and a crawl space then you may want to stay on the smaller side of things, say less than 50 gallons.

Welcome to R2R!
I would say get the biggest tank you can fit within your space. Not only will the fish be happier you will be more successful with a larger change since changes don't happen fast. My kole tang does great in my 75g, but a 90g is the same basic footprint.

SERIOUSLY, you are asking US what size tank to get, LOL!!! ;Hilarious ;Hilarious ;Hilarious

Seriously, if you can swing it, I would go with a 120 gal 4x2 tank.

Welcome to R2R!!!

You could also forego the tang and fox face and go as small as a 40 breeder. I agree with all those that suggested you’d want a 6’ tank with all the fish. Although I wouldn't put another 6 line wrasse in any of my tanks.
