Hi just starting 40gl Cube with 30gl sump looking for good in sump skimmer.
What do you think about those two:

I'd include the Sea Side Curve 5 in that mix as well. It's a BM Curve 5 with a much better pump.....a Sicce SK200 I believe. Nice little skimmer.

I have mine in 9in on the lowest setting. Wish I could go a little lower.

I love ASM for everything. Great bang/buck. Not too familiar with other brands as my 3 ASM have served me well!

Those seem like a lot of money for a little skimmer (and a little tank).

From biggest to smallest, I like all of these better – and they can mount in the sump or in the tank itself if you wanted, depending on your sump and which skimmer you're looking at:

DOC Skimmer 9404 ($258) – a 9004 with a sump chassis to lock in the correct the water level for the skimmer. Only needs 3" of water to work in.

DOC Skimmer 9004 DC ($196)

Comline® DOC Skimmer 9004 ($153) – It may work in your sump, depending on the water level, but it's made to go in the tank.

With a footprint of only about 4", it's possible the 9004 (or the stronger 9004DC above) might work for you even though you run a sump.

BM Curve 5 actually needs less than 8" of water so you are good. You may just need a stand.

Thx for all your help and suggestions guys I just decided to go with the Bubble Magus curve 5, the price was ok I guess 178$

I think both would be over kill, but I had a reef octopus 110ss, because those 30l are only 12" wide and wanted space for a refuge in mine, and I had a 55 display and it was more than enough!
