what skimmers are you all using?

I always thought Blueline and PanWorld were the same pump. They both use the same yellow color and the same description about the former Iwaki engineer. I have PanWorld pumps on my skimmer and main return pump.

But I would agree with what @Devaji said earlier, in that if I was starting over, I would go with MRC, since MTC isn’t around anymore. On the pricier side, but will last forever. My MTC skimmer is from the late 90’s and performs as well now as it did when it was new.

Blue line are rebadged PanWorld pumps .... with different model numbers just in case the name change isn’t confusing enough. The blueline 70, for example, is the PanWorld 200.

I hesitate to say it because I have been waiting 6 months for mine, but I am trying an Aquarium Engineering 12" skimmer with auto neck wash on my 330g system (~450g-500g total volume). You can customize it, and he will build it... someday. But I have yet to hear a bad review from owners. Guess I will find out.

Once I have it (should be in the next week or so) I will post some pics/thoughts.

yes please do!

Just to throw this into the mix. For my 650 I picked up a Bashea skimmer. Thing is a tank and has worked perfectly for me. Much like Lifereef, set it and forget it!

I have been wondering about those too. did you get the "twisted" unit. what size?

after a bit more looking into them I really like there build quality and color scheme. they have moved way up the list.

I don't actually know anyone that uses the AE skimmers. I was close to pulling the trigger on one (and a sulfur reactor), but other issues with AE sent me elsewhere (DiY actually, which was a lot of fun). Very interested to get your impressions if/when you get it.

I'm running two Red Sea 900s, If I need another its easy to add one.

I am planning on using a super reef octopus 10" on my upcoming 400Gallon build thread. Since I already have the skimmer I hope it will be sufficient but honestly I really won't know until I start stocking and testing my nutrients. I am sure I will upgrade in 1 year

I have about 400 gallons.
I started with an SRO 5000
I just put up a Lifereef SVS3-36.

How has the skimmer been performing? What pump are you using?

Agreed with ^^^

LifeReef does make some really good skimmers. You have to overlook the web site, as it looks like the worst coding of the early 90s all on one page, but the owner is very enthusiastic. He will trash every other skimmer brand out there in favor of his own, but the following of LifeReef skimmers can probably justify that perspective.

Sumps and Calcium reactors are pretty solid too.
Never had much luck w Lifereef and sometimes his work is a little shoddy. When I asked him about this He got edfensive and told me glue runs, I went elsewhere. Been using Reef octopus< Not sorry.
