Ok. My dt had cleared up of that white slime bacteria. It took many weeks of Dr. Tims and transitioned to NOPOX dosing, and changed my hands-down-in-tank behavior.

Phosphates went down too fast, 0ppm. Nitrates are still high at 50ppm. I took my GFO reactor offline about three days ago from the advice of my reef club, to balance out the N03 and phosphates.

Now, tonight, I just poked around in my sump, after squirting some NOPOX, turned over this matte of Chaeto to find this white-ish semi gooey slime? Decaying Chaeto?

Not sure...

I had a white slime outbreak for a while and after I eradicated it in my DT, it still hung around for a month or two in small areas of my sump. Not bad, but I could still see it here and there. I did one last thorough cleaning of my sump (drained all water & wiped down all equip) and it disappeared for good. I hated that stuff! Glad you kicked it! I used Dr. Tims too among other things to rid it.

It is exactly what it looks like. White slime disease. Go to Dr. Fosters and get the Waste Away and Refresh. It will break down the slime so it can be filtered out. Prepare to change your filter sock or whatever you use to filter once or even twice a day until the worst of it is broken up. It's source is VOC in your air. Air fresheners, candles, carpet cleaning....anything that " contaminates" the air qualities. I had a WICKED outbreak, tried everything I knew to do. Order it now! Get it in your tank the MOMENT it comes in. That slime is suffocating EVERYTHING it covers. When it happened to me I did alot of research. Then did a yahoo search for "white slime in aquariums" there it was. The product is sound but figure out the source of the VOC'S and eliminate it....NOW. I hope my experience helps you
