What socks do you guys use for Red Sea tanks?

I’m looking to buy some filter socks for my new reefer 350 what socks do you guys use? Are there any cheap alternatives that fit?

I use Red Sea 100 Micron in my 250. I would rather swap them out more and have a nice clear tank.

I am quite certain that the sock trays in all Red Sea systems are unique to Red Sea and therefore you can only use Red Sea brand socks. The trays are just a fraction smaller than the "standard" 4" size which is slightly bogus to me.

I too use the 100 microns, but they also sell a 225 micron and a mesh sock which rinses in about two seconds, but does not trap much waste. The 100s last me about 3 days, the 225s only about 5.

I keep a couple dozen of these socks and dump them in the washer once a month or so when spouse is not home.

I use the red sea 100 micron ones, I tried another brand and they didn’t fit. You can get a while out of the socks if you wash them, I just use a garden hose with a jet nozzle and they come pretty clean.

Go with cups and filter floss. save yourself some trouble with all the cleaning of socks.

i use polyfill from walmart, works great. Keeps my water really clear.

I use the dual density floss from Aquatic Experts which I purchase on Amazon in one media cup and Chemi-Pure Blue in the other cup.

Small amount it clogs fast 1/4 cup maybe

You should also consider the dual density floss from Aquatic Experts which I use. I cut 5.5 inch squares from the roll and they last 4-5 days.
