I have seen that the brittle starfish and the sandsifting starfish are good but i only have a 13 gallon tank. would either of them eat my mocha clownfish, firefish or peppermint shrimp?

sand sifters probably wont find alot of food in a new tank, and the brittle star might get too large. Try to get one of the small species of brittle star and see from there.

Sand sifter will starve for sure in a new or small tank and this is both.
I have a serpent star but I would think he was a bit large for your tank. Really that small you would be best with micro-brittle stars and asterina both of which will likely come in time.

I agree with excluding the sand-sifter - They will run out of food in your size of tank

Yep, sand sifting stars will starve in any tank below 200 gallons. They are never beneficial in tanks of our size. Best left in the oceans

Sorry to hijack the post a little - how is the appetite of a sandsifter comparable to an urchin?

Sandsifters have different appetites. Urchins eat algae. Sand shifters dont. They eat pods, worms, and uneaten food. Sandsifters can eat a ton
