I was going to get a ATI Sunpower 8x80w but missed out on the deal. Now im wondering if this would have been too much for the tank. I am trying to keep a variety of chalices, SPS and zoas. The tank is 60x27x27 keep in mind the rock scape will only be up to about 16"-17" height, leaving a good ten inches of water the light will need to penetrate before it sees coral. Please provide feedback and really only looking for t5 ideas and maybe some LED as supplements.

nobody wants to talk about lights? hard to believe

That's exactly same size as mine but I run leds/ diy t5 combo...I love to hear other ideas on t5 only..

I just bought a ATI sunpower 24inch 6 bulb setup for my 60 cube.

It comes friday so I am hoping I can see a huge difference in coral health with this light coming from a LED setup.

I have seen the ATI Sunpower 8x80w run on a sps tank and it is a nice unit. Produced really good growth and color. Downsides is it is expensive to replace the bulbs and you need a good amount of bulbs for them to work on larger tanks. In this case you have that covered for number of bulbs.

For the SPS they would have worked really well but the chalices and depending on the zoas you would have to be kept lower in the tank or partly under cover. As most chalices like lower light, at least any I have kept. You would be happy with these lights if you are willing to eat the cost of bulb replacement.

Depending on how rock scape is setup you should be OK with a 6 bulb and do reef Brite strip later if needed. Just keep sps under the light and still have a little lower light around the outside.
I have an 8 bulb on my 48x24x24 sps tank. It's a lot of light everywhere in the tank. I tried scolds and a cans on sand bed but too much for them and light was 10 inches above water. I am sure the 60 inch fixture is about the same.
