Hey all,

Never had the opportunity to add multiple tangs but now I have my 220 gallon set up and would love to get some advice from the professionals haha. I’m looking to add 4 to 5 tangs maybe 6 but can’t add all of them at once. I’m looking to add 2 first and than 3 last. Or whatever way you all suggest. Just unfortunately I can’t add all of them at once. The tangs I’m looking to add are

Yellow tang
Kole yellow eyed tang
Blue tang
Naso tang
Powder blue tang

Which is first I should add and if I add the second group should they bigger? I know some will outgrow in awhile and they will be rehomed and of ill be on to a bigger tank than.

Any advice would be great. Thank you!

The only thing I will say is that the Powder Blue should be added last and the Yellow Tang before that. Most are peaceful towards other species of Tangs. Most larger Tangs prefer to be the sole one or paired. The size of the Tangs you decide to add will also play a part in their aggression, or lack thereof.
Every fish has its own personality so what usually is a safe bet with adding fish may not end up being just that. Just have to watch, add the fish at night once the lights are out and sometimes it helps to move some of your rock work around so that your accustomed fish to your tank will not be so accustomed anymore. This curbs their aggression in seeking out new inhabitants because they are in essence new again due to their surroundings being changed. Hope this makes sense! Good luck...

Naso and Kole first. Yellow, Powder, and blue last, hope you enjoy! great fish you picked! Great taste!

What are your thoughts on convict tangs? Are there any other tangs to look out for that are peaceful or generally known to be peaceful. Of course I agree with you that all fish have their own personality so we don’t always know what to expect. So I may just start with adding the Naso and the hippo first. Thanks so much!

Thanks! I heard blue hippos are also pretty peaceful so I was think Naso and blue hippo first.

Ive never had one, but from my friends experience and my knowledge blue hippos can be mean, But try out what ever just make sure you have an acclamation box on hand, and a mirror.
