Hi

Looking for some options

Should I get 50/60gal rectangle tank. Glass top cover then add a 2nd fluval coral light (I already have one)

Thinking of making my own in tank sub like the fluval has.

Or just get the fluval sea

What are you trying to grow? Those lights aren't very powerful. Even with 2 you'll be limited.

I like my Fluval 13.5 but honestly the pumps and lights and hoods are lack luster imho. They work but create other problems further down the rabbit hole. Add all those costs if you upgrade those to the sticker price then look at what your money gets you elsewhere perhaps. Many successful Fluval owners that run stock but many more that run non stock and wallet is lighter lol.

You’re better off getting a 40/50/60 gallon breeder, drilling it to use a diy sump, and spending $ on decent lights. T5’s and/or led’s will grow anything-start off with softies/lps and then add more lights as you advance.

Thanks Tampasmitty

That’s what I’m leaning too.
Fluval tank and a stand is like $1000 Canadian. Here at my lps

Or I could get a non curved tank stand, and glass top for $600.
I have pumps already that I could setup better then that fluval stock

Even if my light choice is wrong I could change or add.

Or is this fluval all in one a good idea

It’s more about the inhabitants I think, if it’s high bióload I would steer away from Fluval. If it’s medium to low there good tanks. Remember higher bioload equals more maintenance and those chambers and media are not as easy to clean and deal with then a sump can be. Just my opinion mind you.remember there’s no extra water volume you can add with aio unless you spend more money and make big moves.

Thanks everyone, ended up with a 65 gal and new stand

just plain glass top for now going to see what I can use of my current equipment.

then maybe buy some T5s down the road
Spent $740 vs the fluval 32sea and stand for over $1000

cheers
