What temp do you keep tank with blue spot jawfish?

I've had a blue spot for almost a year now. In the winter, spring, and fall my tank stays at about 77 F, but I did see spikes to 84 degrees over last summer.

Yea I've had mine for about 6 months now he's been happy and healthy just thinking of raising my temp up to 76-78 just was wondering if that's a safe range, was there any stress when your temp was 84 if so what kind of signs?

No issues at 77 degrees. It is possible that he/she looked a bit paler at 84 degrees, but still ate like the piggy he is.

I know this is an old thread but wondering if any of you still have the Jawfish? Been hearing lifespans shortened when water temp is in the high 70s and most don’t make it a year.

My experience is that above 75 degrees they live significantly shorter lives. It is a rarity to hear of them making it over a year in those temps, oftentimes even shorter.

Whereas any other jawfish species I've kept for 4-5years.

Thanks for the response that’s unfortunate. I just acquired one from my LFS. I live in San Diego my tank during the summer reaches a temperature of 77 when it gets hot but most of the time it stays between 72-74 during all the other seasons.

What corals can you get, if you drop down your tank to 72F to accomodate the Blue Spot Jawfish? I have the ability to bring down a 30 gallon system I have to 72, but don't know if my live rock or corals would do well?

I always keep them at 78F degrees as that is what the chiller is set to.

Please anyone that has this fish and has brought down the system to 72F, can you respond.

Thanks,

MG
