What the heck is going on over here?

So, I added a small CUC to my tank since diatoms have started. Well, I just noticed that all 3 snails made their way up on top of the rockwork, mound together and started releasing some white milky stuff into the water column. I have an idea of what's going on here but I may be way off. So, what the heck is going on over here and should I be worried?

As said above, chances are very high that it’s what you think it is. You shouldn’t be worried as it’ll just give extra food for the fish or you’ll have more snails to clean up the algae and bacteria.

So no need for a big water change? It's a 15 gallon with no skimmer. Just floss and a bag full of BioMAX.

Hahaha sometimes a water change might be what triggers the spawning. For my tank, sometimes its the trochus snails and sometimes its the urchin.

Happened in my tank a few months back. Now I have 100s of baby trochus snails. Waiting until they are big enough to bring to the LFS.

Spawning will create a twemporary mess but siphon any diatoms for now and snails will clean the rest

Do they give you credit for them? I wonder why they are so expensive compared to other snails when it seems like they breed like crazy in home aquariums.

Not if they are tangs. Poop doesn't stand a chance making it to the corals in my tank. The tangs devour it. Pretty disgusting actually but they like it as much as mysis so I doubt snail stuff would bother them
