What the heck is this? Some sort of worm?

I've seen this before, but it never had much of an impact...this time around, I noticed by Pulsing Xenia not looking great...sure enough, a second look and I discovered this trail on the stem, some of it underneath the soft coral tissue. I tried to break it off with a small scraper, but can't remove the piece under the coral tissue itself. Thanks in advance!

If it's bothering your xenia then I'd let it be... I'd love for something to stunt the growth of my xenia

Apparently these days people are reporting that vermiteds can burrow through super glue
