What the HECK is this!

This little “egg” looking thing popped up overnight and one or a few of the fish moved the sand away from it. Pics are hard to get. But I did take multiple. Tank buddies are: 4 clowns, 1 six line wrasse, 1 blue tang, 1 Coral Beauty, 1 mandarin and turbo snails.

I don’t think so. All my rock is dry rock. How could it hitch hike from a fish?

My guess is this as well, it looks like light is coming from underneath it in the first image which is telling me it’s probably hollow.

Did you try picking it up?

Whenever I see something new (and pickup-able) in my tank, I always pick it up and see what it is.

No I didn’t. But why would the sand be pushed away from it?

It’s likely much heavier than the rest of the sand so it stayed put while the sand was pushed away by the fish and water flow.
