Have you always had that she'll or did you get it from someone? Possibly aptasia. I would take it out to be safe. Try not to touch the side with whatever that is, because is that is aptasia it will spread throughout the tank.

What I'm curious about is why is it only on that shell you need to check your tank good.

Ok so I've had the shell for a wile it's from an old snail that didn't make it my hermit crab made quick work of that and i was worried about it being aptasia I looked everywhere else for anything similar and all I could find were a couple of small feather dusters Ima take it out tonight tho like u said thank u for your info

The thing is, how do they retract? Is there a tube of some sort (feather duster) or is the entire thing soft that sways with the current (aptasia)

This reminded me of a cowrie that has similar protrusions....

That shell is definitely not a cowrie, but wonder if whatever snail that is, has similar protrusions. You did state it's on the snail only.

It's got my curiosity.

Also the others have solid tubes like a feather duster would but these ones on the shell do not have a tubular shell and I haven't poked at them on the shell all others retract into their homes

Those look like some sort of hydroids to me
