ok after 20 years i have never seen this coral before that i picked up. Bought as an acropora craterformis, but im not so sure. Im thinking astreopora. Any ideas???

Looks almost like pagoda with tiny polyps,
Astreopora is good guess, only thing is the coralites seem a little widely spaced but sounds right.
 
pretty sure its not cyphastrea, i have 5 different varietys of that coral. What really throws me is the polyp extension...
 
I agree on Astreapora cause of the coralite structure and the polyps. They aren't collected often due to their colors. There are a few different species as well. I have one in my reef. I love it. Kinda an old school coral IMO..
 
Astreopora scabra. Out of that family, that genus has the polyps that stick out like little flowers. VERY nice find as they are quite rare!!

I'm sorry but LOL @ Acro sp blah blah, whoever sold that to you better not have a can of zoo poo lol.
