Ok so this isn’t the first time I’ve found on of these in my filter socks. Feels and kinda smells like rubber. As if someone cut a super bouncy ball in half!! I’m at a complete loss at this point.

Almost looks like a cover/cap for a screw.

Funny because I found rubber in my tank today have no idea where it came from is someone dropping things in our tanks?

It looks like one of the little rubber bumpers I put on the lower corners of a picture frame - do you have a picture hanging on wall above tank?
Or I use same bumpers on cabinet doors to keep them from slamming closed - maybe one came off and bounced into sump

Looks like rubber cap of some sort and occasionally some debris does come in bags of live sand which Ive seen more than once including splinters from driftwood, a broken pencil and even a small battery . . . SMH

Strange looking indeed! If I were to venture a guess I’d say maybe an interior part of a ball valve, do you have one on your drain line? A noise dampener from some piece of equipment that vibrates, some skimmer etc sit on little feet like that too. I doubt it would be from DT, unless you have some really odd overflow design. Or it could be a spacer foot of some sorts for equipment that overhangs the edge of the sump?

Yes, I have dual drains and put ball valves on each one….makes sense now, i’m hoping this is nothing detrimental or will cause ball valve to fail and leak?

I’ve been looking up disassembled pvc ball valves and can’t find anything that looks like it could be this….weird, still makes the most sense though because there isn’t anything above the tank on the wall

Not sure how they would make it through the pump, into tank via return line and then back through the weir teeth and into drain…..has to be something between the weir and the filter socks
