Can anyone tell me what in the world this is??
At first I thought dead snail and the water flow is moving it... now I’m not so sure!
Seriously, what?

Some sort of worm. No idea what kind. Usually these guys are good. Perhaps #reefsquad knows?

Where does something like this come from?
Things can hitchhike in on live rock, corals, and countless other ways. Diversity is a good thing in a tank. Keep in mind, most things start out really small. So small you can’t see them or you miss them. Peak in your tank at night. Using a red light is key because most things can’t see red. You may see all kinds of things. Especially as your tank progresses.

I started this new tank up almost 2 yrs ago, with dry rock. The only thing I moved over were the fish, 2 clowns who have lived here forever. Last year I added some hermits, 8 months ago I added a Goby...all had been in QT. Then the 2 Tang about a months ago, they're the ones that were in my QT for 8 months.

This thing is tiny, like an inch worm, maybe a little wider.

googled those, maybe? I can't tell. How would this show up in my tank? I have no coral and I haven't added anything new except 2 fish who lived in my QT for 8 months...long story, different forum. :)

I can't find any pictures of their life cycle. The link below shows what their shell looks like before they become sessile. I think most tanks have them - my tank has them anyways. I think they really only irritate corals. Otherwise, they're filter feeders and will help keep the water column clean. They can hitchhike on many different things.

May have hitchhiked on a shell. I've seen snails with them on their shell.

Definitely not vermetid. They don’t move like that. She said that b4 you posted the video.

The juvenile phase moves. They don't become sessile until they reach the adult phase.

It's definitely a vermetid worm. I have a mean fish that knocks them off the rocks occasionally and they end up in the sand. I'd pull it out.

They multiply like crazy.

OH and funny coincidence...last year my daughter made this....she called it "earthworm Barbie", so tonight, I'm browsing pictures on my computer and I come across this picture! I told her this is what is now living in my tank! hahaha
