Hey All,

So I have my LED lights on my 120 but it is set up to come on at 6pm and turn off 6am. The logic to tht was clearly during the day there is natural light so I figure why have the light on right? Am i doing the wrong thing by having the light turn on at night? Can i have some suggestions please on what is best for the fish? And I have been doing this for the pass 6 months.

Reefs need dark as well.

Run them to your liking, but 12hrs seems a tad much.

The lighting & spectrum from your leds is for coral health, growth & color. A bit of light through a window will not suffice, but if it is to just see the tank your fine, but remember they need to sleep.

I run mine 3pm -11pm on a ramp up & down. It gets light from windows, but doesn't affect anything.

Mine is from 4 to 1am. I don't adjust day light saving time kicks in either. 3 to 12 or 4 to 1am are the same for me :). I only view/enjoy the tank from 7 to 10pm most of the time.

If you have natural light during the day, your tank may be getting to much light. My lights come on at 9 am and goes to night mode at 8 pm, moon lights till just before 10. just my opinion. :)

My AI Sol Blue LEDs start at 3pm, slowly ramp up to 100% by 6pm and stay there until 9pm then ramp back down until they shut off at 11pm.

I run a total of 10 hrs from off to on, 6 hrs at or above 50% and 3 hrs at peak lighting intensity of 85%.

Ok thanks everyone!!! I will def changr mine to either 3pm or 4pm now that i've read everyones comments and only have it on for less than what I have it on now. Does it matter if its a fowlr tank?

Bump!

A FOWLR basically only needs light so you can see the fish.

That being said they need a rest period (lights out)

Kessil's come on at 10am and off at 9pm, with a ramp time of 2hours. The T5 supplements come on at 1pm and off at 4pm when the Kessil's are running at their peak.
