What time of day do you add New Fish.

Going to be Adding my QT'd Powder Blue Tang to my tank. Just wondering what everyone thoughts on what time of the day to add him.

I have 1 Yellow Eye Kole Tang about 1" smaller then the Powder Blue.

I always add new fish about an hour after the lights go out for the night, by then the established fish are sleeping in their own spots.............and the new guys get a night of peace and quiet.

It's typically recommended to add them after lights go out, it increases the potential for the fish to get along.

I use an acclimation/socialization box for most new additions. If aggression is absent, or light, I release the fish after dark.

I let the new fish sit in a clear acclimation box all day, so other fish can get used to his presence without actual fighting. If all seems well, I release the fish into the tank about an hour or two before lights out. My wife then stands guard over the new fish and points her finger at any aggressor. :smile: Never woke up to a dead new fish doing it this way. :wink:

We introduce fish via an acclimation/socialization box for a minimum of two days depending on the established tank mates behavior. Once we determine enough socialization time has passed, we release the new additions about an hour after lights out.

HAHAHAHA We have the same method in our household. I do the initial work and the wife stands guard using stern words (usually for my purple tang). and lots of finger pointing/palms getting in fields of view. When we had a 6 line wrasse (yes I destroyed my aquascape to get it out), the stern words were usually minute long curses in her native tongue.
