Based on the video what do you think? That is a 1050 PG Current USA eFlux DC Flow Pump coming from sump
You want lots of flow running through your tank a single return pump won't cut it especially for a long tank like that. If you were to add fish or CUC they may suffer from lack of water movement too, it's not just corals that need it.

Thank you...Sounds like I'll be buying my wave pump!!!!

FLOW!!!!

Make this your 1st addition. You need some water movement. Without that, you will QUICKLY develop problems that you do NOT want.

You will need a CUC as well.

Lights are important but since you have no coral, there is no great rush for lights.

I would not get more fish until AFTER I had other equipment in place.

Welcome to R2R

WHAT?!? I did not even think about that. Or even know that there would be black Friday sales. Thank you

This 'bout me spray Mountain Dew out of my nose. hahaha

You are gonna be an asset to the forum. Love it!

Chaeto is always the move for a fuge. Id recommend getting all equipment in order before stocking. Once you buy all the equipment, you are ready to go. If you start buying live stock, that is money that could be going towards the supplies that keep your tank alive essentially.

I.e. look for a skimmer and get that fuge setup.

At least thats what i'd do.

Good plan. Next as others have said you should buy lights on black friday since that's often one of the most expensive pieces of equipment.

Its hard to tell how much flow you are getting by the video. You are getting good surface agitation which helps with gas exchanges. But, if you are using only the return line as your main flow, it isn't going to be much. The majority of your flow comes from powerheads. But all your sealife will need this movement...

Thanks for taking a look. I'm going with the wave pump. Might wait til black Friday though. [emoji12]

Jut learning about QT's. How important do you think they are and at this point should I get one?

Another quick question. Should I look into getting a QT now?

I personally think a QT is 100% required. I run my fish through a protocol that I've learned from R2R reefers that takes about 6-8 weeks. So far, over a year and extremely healthy fish. Quarantining is simple and doesn't have to be expensive...10g tank, HOB filter, small heater, thermometer, airstone and pump, egg-crate lid, and few meds. No light is required.

I know of a friend who never quarantined...one fish wiped out his 300g tank with velvet...

If you aren't medicating, then maybe at least a small setup to monitor the fish for a few weeks at least to ensure no noticeable signs of disease.

Wow....that is a big help. I'll be looking into a QT. Thank you
