Hi all, I’ve just bought a new Waterbox 130.4, which has 2 x 4” filter socks in the sump. I was thinking that rather than use filter socks, I could have a Klir 4” in the first section, and a plastic cup with carbon in the second. This would mean I wouldn’t need a separate reactor for the carbon. Does this sound sensible, and are there any draw backs? Any advice appreciated.

I don't see a problem with it. However, if you have a reactor that is still more ideal. Make sure you have some sort of sponge or floss on top of the carbon if it is in the cup.

Thanks very much @Spare time . Excuse my ignorance, but why would the reactor be better?

It makes more water it the carbon in a given time than in a bag where water can go around or in another area. In other words, the carbon should remove pollutants and what not faster in a reactor which may be handy if you are running carbon for that purpose. Bulk reef had a video on it that might be handy. However, I run my carbon in a bag and most do.
