What to do with a canister filter?

I'm converting over to a sump system and will have a 5 month old oase biomaster thermo 600 with built-in heater. I hate having things just laying around not being used when they could still serve a purpose. What should I do with the canister?

keep it, nothing wrong with having spares and alternative solutions lying around. You'll use it again someday, wether it be in a few weeks, few months, or few years.

Guess I should clarify, is there anything I could use it for still looped into the aquarium system?
