I believe I handle frags all wrong. I've always tried propping them on a rock and hope they grow onto it. While this works some of the time, I've not been particularly successful because too often they fall and die before attachment. What do you all do? I have a 265 gallon and 29 gallon tank. Thanks!!!

No epoxy or superglue gel used for placement?
+1 you have to glue it or epoxy it. I glue mine on a small PC of rubble and the glue the rubble to were you like it to be. This way you can always remove it or move it

I tried years ago, but it aways fell off. Maybe I was doing something wrong or it was too old?

You have to put super glue or epoxy on the frag and hold it on the rock where you want to for a minute or two until you feel the frag stick to the rock. I sometimes have to try a couple times before it sticks good

If I don't remove something from a plug I take a pair of end cutters and cut off the stem of the plug flush. Then that flat disk gets super glued to a rock or rubble. I pretty much only use gorilla glue super glue gel. About $5 for a 20g bottle that lasts quite a while. I have used some epoxy but really no need unless you have something big and heavy to glue (well sometimes more convenient to use epoxy) . Then its epoxy and maybe also super glue. Don't remember the brand but Lowes sells a two part food and drinking water safe product (without metal in it). Certainly no need to buy overpriced aquarium marketed products.

You could also use a drill and drill some holes in rock to slide the frag in I do that with this big brain rock it's super easy to drill and easy to break pieces off when the zoas start growing on it

I was always under the impression super glue was only used on dry parts and used epoxy underwater? Are you saying I can take a wet frag, glue the skeleton or plug to a rock or whatever, and place it back in? Is there a wait time? I can't believe I don't know any of this!

Absolutely. As said earlier, just hold it in place for a minute or two until it starts to set. I usually turn the flow pumps off while gluing.

I'm one of those that remove from plugs and glue to small rubble as I personally don't like the look of plugs in the display. Glue the rubble where your heart contests.
