About 6 months ago I picked up a green LTA from my lfs and it was a pretty small but decent enough size to host my clowns. I would consider myself quite lucky actually because I did not do much research about clowns hosting different types of anemones and my ocellaris wanted nothing to do with it for a month and now it is hosting them. I have it in a nano 8 gallon tank and at the time I thought it was sufficient but it has probably doubled in size. It can't seem to find a comfortable spot and because the anemone really only attaches itself to the sand bed it doesn't have many options. Now I also have a 30 gallon tank with plenty of sand bed but there are two problems. The first problem is that I have my ocellaris in the 8 gallon with the giant LTA and I have a maroon clownfish that is quite bigger than the ocellaris in the 30 gallon tank so moving the ocellaris with the LTA into my 30 gallon isn't an option. This pretty much leads to my second point and that is I have a bubble tip hosting the maroon clown in the 30 gallon. I was thinking I would just put the LTA into the 30 gallon and leave the ocellaris in the 8 gallon without an anemone. So what I was pretty much hoping to get out of this is some feedback on wether or not it is a good idea to mix two anemones together especially since they are different species. The bubble tip likes to stay on the rocks and the LTA likes the sand which is good but I would hate to wake up to some anemones that stung the hell out of each other. The bubble tip is a lot smaller than the LTA and when the maroon clown is in it she pretty much takes up the hole thing if that gives you any idea of size for the BTA. It would probably make sense to just trade out the anemones but I'm looking for the root that will be least stressful on both the fish and the anemones and the idea of having to pry that BTA off the rock haunts me. If I can't get the advice that I am hoping for I may have to bite the bullet and take the anemone back the the lfs and just get a different smaller one. I have also thought of fragging the LTA but I have never done anything of the sort and I don't think I'm really equipped to deal with that sort of thing right now. I apologize for the long drawn out post I just want to make sure we are all on the same page.
