What to do with old water from water change?

Silly question, but what does everyone so with their old tank water when you perform water changes? Can I just put it down the sink or should I worry about it rusting anything out? I have no drains outside that I can put a hose in either. So just wanted to check.

The normal range for urine specific gravity is 1.005 to 1.030.
Our tank water is about the same

I toss mine in the yard, usually only 5 gallons. I generally have chunks in mine, sand, coral bits, snail shells, things I don't want in my plumbing.

Just dump it out in sink. It won't hurt your plumbing.

yeah savs wasting good salt...AQ salt hard to get here at times so i dont like wasting it

I think its perfect, because I've been dumping 5 gallon buckets of salt water down the toilet for years, sometimes I try to time it just right to save me a flush

I know many things more disturbing than this.

Perhaps simply cut back on the salty foods.

I dump mine on some ivy-like weed that likes to try to climb my house AC compressor in an attempt to choke it out ... but I guess that's not what you're asking

*I like the saltwater pool idea, but already have one of those and don't need my pool guy having a stern conversation with me about the inexplicably rising salinity

I’ve heard it’s not great to put it into a sewer system of any sort be it septic or municipal. If it’s a septic it will be raising the salinity over time and harm the bacteria. If it’s municipal it will raise the salinity of the treatment water and make it harder. But do what you gotta do.

Personally I have what’s called a dry well and I dump my saltwater into pipes that drain into it. This is like four feet deep and is making the ground near it salty but hopefully deep enough not to harm anything. It’s under some oak trees and they have seemed fine for the three years I’ve been doing it.

I toss mine on the part of the patio that the geese hang out in. It helps wash away the goose poop.
