What to do with stung polyps.

He said to clip the polyps that have gotten stung with clippers. To remove the bad parts. Should I do that? Here is a pic. Zoom in on the left.

They could recover but I see no reason why cutting the bad looking heads would hurt. Basically just fragging the colony.
 
I see no need for an intervention. If you want to cut the stalk to the individual polyp head you can use small bone cutters.
 
BTW, these are Blastomussa merletti, and LPS; not a soft polyp like a zoanthid.
 
I got that whole piece for 22.99. The guy thought it was a a regular polyp.
 
Mag is at 1280 Ca is at 420 and alk is at 10. All levels are good. How fast do these guys spread?
 
Can be pretty fast; much faster than their bigger cousin at least (wellsi).
