What to do with whelk snails

I have captured 7 whelk snails in my tank.....and now my question is what to do with them? Currently I threw them in the fuge with my mantis whom I’d assume over time will pick them off.

But now I’m wondering, will they reproduce? Should I just toss them in the yard and not worry?

Yeah he’s in the fuge, doesn’t do much do I figured I’d keep him.
