So the water here is calling for severe thunder storms for the next 11 days , what do I do if my power goes (for my aquariums) will my fish be okay..will it hurt my fish and corals to leave the light off for the day or will it ruin halide lights if the power goes out while they are on?

You really should have a plan for power outages. You need to maintain flow (water movement) and tank temperature. If the outage is short, you can do this with battery backups or converters. If you have frequent outages, with generators. I'd suggest you search this site for tips or google to find specifics. HERE's a start.

I live in New Jersey and we had a little blow come through here a couple years ago by the name of Sandy. I was without power for over seven days. If it wasn't for the generator, I'd have a dead tank. Many friends lost there entire tank because they weren't prepared.

And your lights will be just fine if you have an outage....no damage.

EDIT TO ADD:

HERE's another reference for you to read. Enjoy!

Thank you, i' ll go by a genorator later, probably should have already had one owning 6 aquariums. We don't get anything quit like Sandy here in northern Indiana but here one day it'll be hot and sunny the next cold and stormy.

At the very least I would go with battery operated air pumps. You could always warm water if you have a gas stove. I have a portable generator but a whole house one would be the best option.
