after a crash?
Lost most of my sps and the ones I do have left are struggling.
It’s sad cuz I had a lot of great growth from my sps using triton.
Now that most of the algae is gone and my tank is close to a year.
Is there a way to salvage my tank and get the struggling sps back to normal?
I’ve also switch to aqua forest 3 part and using their probiotic reef salt.

Just settle things down with your parameters and nutrient. I use 1+2+3+ and AquaForest reefsalt. I had a crash, and left corals that I thought were dead came back n about 3 months.

Good to know. I’ll keep dosing and doing water changes. Also what would be a good amount of time to restock coral?

When your stragglers start turning around, that would be a good time to start adding again.
Sorry you had to experience a crash but most of us go through it at some point...
It’s a right of passage and you’ll come back stronger than ever before!!
You just have to make sure you learn from prior experiences....

Will do, thx for the advise.
I’ll keep updating on the process.

+1
When starting 1+2+3+ get the Alk settled first and the Ca and Mg will fall in place. I very seldom have dosed all three in equal parts, I stay with in 1 or 2 mil though:)

Great info. Gonna keep testing now that I’m using their probiotic reef salt tell it is stable.

Really depends on how the tank crashed. What happened? Did you lose fish and coral? What are your parameters like now?

I wouldn't recommend changing things like your dosing and your salt mix when your corals are already stressed but looks like you already have, and I assume you believe triton had something to do with the crash and that's why you switched, in which case ok. Just speculating.

I didn’t switch right away. Waited tell all the 4part was gone and switched. And waited to switch salt tell I had no more of my original salt. I didn’t lose fish. I did a icp test when it was crashing and things were good. I did switch lighting to illumagic lighting.

Could we get some details about what happened. What caused the crash. If you’re not sure any theories?

What went on during the crash?
My guess is the refug was full of chateo. So I wasn’t exporting anything out. I also had a heavy stock of fish and me putting my hands in too often to pull out algae cuz I had it pretty much all over the sand bed.
My corals were fine tell one day I saw them not opening up as much and then the bleaching happened.

The algae is pretty much gone and I’m pulling the chateo out more often and not letting it sit tell it takes up the whole first chamber. Keeping my setup to a minimum took out my reactor only skimmer running.

I would try a starter Acro if your tank seems ready to go, sometimes acros that are just holding on after almost dying take over a year to recover and start growing and branching again.

Good idea I’ll hit up my lfs and get me a cheap sps and see how it does before I go full restock

It’s been a few months and the coral that survived are started to look health and my green monti has its full color back.
