What to dose other than 2 part

I am just curious what people are dosing other than 2 part.

I thought about getting a test kit for magnesium I was just curious how many people dose that or something else.

Just trying to find out if its a waste of time to buy a test kit or if I should look at something else

I just have a regular reef test kit and marine test kit

i check the MG levels every water change or 2 weeks to make sure they are in range and dose accordingly

Maintaining Magnesium is essential in a reef tank, in addition to Calcium and Alkalinity. I would definitely purchase a test kit and or at least bring your water to your LFS so you know where your Magnesium level is at. Trust me, if it's off, you'll have trouble maintaining Calcium and Alk.

sounds good I wonder why they don't include the mag test kit in the in the reef test kit

Yeah that is a little surprising. I'm assuming it's the API test kit?

Just as a recommendation, you can pick up a Salifert Magnesium test kit on Amazon or Ebay for less than $20 shipped. I believe they offer a package deal which includes Ca, KH and Mg as well.

Mg is a buffer for Ca and KH as far as I understand. If your magnesium is low you will never be able to get your other levels up.
