What to feed CBB

Put in enough food so that everyone is able to get some. This may mean that aggressive eaters get more food, but you need to ensure the more timid fish are getting enough.

Smaller, but more frequent feedings help, efficient protein skimming, possibly carbon dosing can all help support water quality with heavy feeding.

Most of the available brands work fine. I use PE mysis and hikari mysis.

I had an issue with more aggressive/faster fish eating all the food before the CBB could get some. What worked for me was putting the food in a turkey baster and just squeezing it light enough to push a little food out the tip. I then placed it in the tank and the CBB would come up to it and peck. Once he pulled out the piece, it was like breaking open a pin-yata. The rest of the food comes out and then everyone eats.

Eventually, he got aggressive enough where I can now broadcast feed and he still gets his.

Live blackworms, live brine - they'll elicit a feeding response like crazy.

Also try clam on a half shell which is frozen.

I cannot stress the live options enough to get the appetite more healthy

I'll second this and full disclosure, I'm about 2 weeks into QT with my first CBB. He/She was eating frozen mysis already - which was a huge plus - but I saw a complete turnaround when I introduced the live blackworms and clam on a half shell (which I add maybe 1-2 times a week as a treat). The CBB is now a pretty aggressive eater and is usually the first one at the top of the tank when it sees me come in the room and especially when it sees the dropper come in the top of the tank. I also have been having good success with a feeder which I based on this design, I'll usually feed everyone (including the live blackworms) then throw some more blackworms/mysis combo in the feeder for her to pick on throughout the day. Good luck!

Edit: I also use a combination of Selcon and VitaChem for all foods with the exception of the Live Blackworms. Somedays I'll alternate, other days I'll use both.

live food once or twice a month live brine and live blood worms.
I noticed I have to feed him twice a day to keep him fat.

Yep. That's what I use. I buy a bag of frozen raw shrimp, thaw one and cut it in 1/8th in. piece's. Pound for pound it's about 20 times cheaper than pe mysis shrimp.

If your grocery store has a decent seafood department you can get clams, shuck them, rinse it and drop it in.

Ocean Nutrition also sells them already halved and frozen.

I was in the same boat but it's pretty easy. Alternatively you can buy the frozen ones which are shucked already. I saw Ocean nutrition mentioned but Hikari also makes them they are just a little difficult to find (at least in my area) so I order online in bulk
