Hello fellow reefers,

I got my 120 up and running with an Apex system controller heater, lights and pumps. Now I do not know what to get next. I am planning on doing a softie/LPS tank so I will have to dose Cal/Alk for it and I know I want to do dosers for it, but I also want to do an ATO system so I can have the salinity stable which leads to a better tank.

Which should I invest in next, either the Apex Dosing system (both the dosers and the containers) or the ATO system that just came out for the Apex?

I had the same dilemma when gathering my equipment. I got an Osmolator then dosing pumps because I caught the ato being sold by someone on this forum. Got lucky a short while later and scored a Bubble magus dp3 and containers the same way. Since the tank just finished cycling the ato went on first bc I don't need the dp3 yet. No coral just two fish and cuc.

Thats pretty much where I am at, my tank just finished cycling and put my first fish in a few days ago, a beautiful Blue Sapphire Damsel (though he is hiding in my rock work), so I am leaning towards doing the ATO first

ATO is a necessity if you want to have successful reef tank. And you shouldn't be dosing anything that early stage anyways.

Wasn't going to dose anything yet, it was just to have the equipment to be able to when I want to start dosing

well then it should be a easy decision cuz you are going to have top top off water from the get go. Nothing sucks more than having to carry a bucket every day to try to top off on your own. There is a reason why ppl usually put ATO as the most useful item purchased for their tanks.

You already have an ATO... your apex. Buy a magnetic float switch holder and read about programming the apex to function as an ATO.

ATO. I have been dosing with water changes and manually because my corals are young and dont use much yet.
I would get the new Apex ATO...wish it had been available when I bought mine. My osmolator works but would rather have it running on my apex.
