I mounted two large frags/mini colonies of Tricolor Valida (On the left) and some other acro (on the right). I need something to go between them. I don't want zoas or an encrusting monti since they will grow too quick and then I'll have problems. Nothing too aggressive...

I was thinking of either a UFO micromussa (Very tiny polyps: the one in the center of this pic: http://www.finsandcritters.net/aquatic/Corals/UFO.jpgor a Monti Setosa: http://www.cvreefers.org/gallery2/d/41387-1/Superman.jpg

Any ideas?

I know you want a livestock suggestion but if it was me I would leave it empty. That valida will be double the size in probably six-eight months. And with the growth of the other acro that area will be grown over in about six months.

That is true. What if I put the setosa or micromussa on a large rock, and glue it to that rock? So when they start to crowd eachother, I can break the setosa/micromussa off and move it/sell it.

You could do that if you really wanted something there. I know it is hard to look at bare spots in my reef too.

Thank goodness you understand. I'm not crazy. I think I will do that.. what do you think would go nice there?

How high up on the rocks is it. Maybe get a micromussa and slowly get it use to the high light. I know I have some micros that are kinda far up under 150 HQI and hey seem fine have not lost and color or anything.

I have some micromussa that are about 6 inches from the surface under 250w so you should be good.

What about some cyphastrea? It doesn't grow too fast and it can adapt to both high and low light. So shading won't be an issue when the Acros grow out. That spot looks prime for some meteor shower...

That's a great idea. I may try that out... I already have the micromussa on the frag rack, but I'll see.
