I have a 55 gallon all in one that I’m setting up, it has 4 different compartments. I know one of these is supposed to be filled with media but what else do I put here? Carbon in one as well as media balls in another and then the other two are for intake/exit of water? I’m going to be growing softies/lps and eventually sps. Do people put protein skimmers inside these compartments? Thanks for any ideas

Can you post an image (the AIO chamber) and indicate what filter media your tank came with? Are there any media basket or filter floss holders on the sides? I assume the return outlet is in a center chamber?

Yes, a protein skimmer, heater (etc.) will usually go inside one of the chambers (just need to see a layout).

So I bought the tank used and the guy who I bought it from said he had carbon bags in one compartment , but I’ve also heard from someone else to avoid carbon

Ok I will post a picture when I get home…yea the center chamber has two outlets for water being pushed back into the tank

No, carbon is good for removing impurities from the water and helping making it crystal clear.

It's hard to tell which compartment goes where, but probably filter floss on the ends and a bag of ChemiPure Blue or Elite on one of the inner chambers and aome bio media in the other. Nothing in the pump chamber.

ChemiPure Blue is carbon and ChemiPure Elite is carbon/GFO. Yes, if you can find a nano (or HOB) skimmer you can run that in one of the inner chambers.
Awesome ! Thank you !! I will post pics of the build once it’s complete
