What to put with Firefish Goby?

It was a 30 gallon. No issues with corals although as I mentioned the Cherub Angel had to be removed secondary to chasing down the Fire Fish and nipping my clams. I still have the large female black and white clown and she has gotten aggressive over the years, I can not introduce shrimp to the tank or another fish, her and the YWG have gone at it but that rarely happens, the goby high tails it to the rocks.

Did you ever have issues with nitrates getting high or did you feel it was stocked to a safe level? I run a protein skimmer and do biweekly 7 gallon water swaps.

No I never really have that issue. I do the water changes, do not over feed. Bi-monthly water changes here of about 10%, and I keep and have kept a lot of stony/sps corals. Nitrates around 10 is about the norm for me. The skimmer will work really well in your favor.

I think I'm going to go in that direction then. However I will swap out the watchman goby with a Prawn Goby I think. Smaller and won't risk over sifting my sand.

In that order does anyone see any issues with it?

I have had the Fire Fish, the pair of clowns B/W, the YWG and a Cherub Angel. The Cherub become aggressive and a clam nipper when it matured. Seems like there is a lot of fish to chose from but when you start thinking of what colors, personalities and the size of the tank it begins to limit your choices really quickly. I like the Chalk Bass as well but it's not colorful.

It doesn't look colorful in photos but you'd be surprised at how pretty it is in-person and feeling good.

Be careful, jawfish and hawkfish are not the most shrimp friendly saltwater fish. Do you have a fuge? If you do you could try a mandarin?

I redid the measurements on my tank and turns out I have the 36 gallon corner. Not the 54 gallon, so I'm nixing the clown idea. Looks like I'm going with my firefish, a Russell's Goby I just ordered, and a Flame Angel once I can source a good one.

Have you researched the Flame Angle? I've read that they can be very aggressive. Because of this the recommended tank size per LA is 70g. You really don't want to have to try and catch it once it's in your tank
I understand how you feel about wanting *that* special fish. I'm running a 26g with only 2 myself. A FireFish and a Scooter Dragonet. I'm so limited to what fish would do well in my tank. But it's best for the fish. Please reconsider the Flame Angle

I've looked around at several different sources and the suggested tank size varies widely. As long as it has lots of room to hide in the rock work it should be fine. However, it will be purchased small and if it gets to the point where it needs a bigger tank I have the funds to make that happen. I just don't have the will power to set up a whole new tank right now.
