Bioadvanced was far safer and more effective then any other coral dip. Unfortunately I am in one of those states that recently banned imidacloprid. Online I cant even get it shipped here. Anyone know of cheap replacement for it as a coral dip? Or are store bought coral dips the only option

Yes Bayer became Bioadvanced a while back but the active ingredients in it have come under fire lately as a danger to bees and have been legally banned in some states. Is there a replacement for it?

I came across this thread searching for information on a coral dip. I too was also using bioadvanced with the main ingredient as imidacloprid. When I went to pick more up, I noticed the product changed slightly. I look on the back and the main ingredient is cyfluthrin. Does anyone used the new version before with out any issues?

I use coral rx and / or revive

Are you going after red bugs or something resilient to normal dips?

Nothing in particular. Just a good all in one dip to prevent everything like bioadvanced did. Never had a single pest get past it.

Based on the very small info I can find on using the new formula results are about 50/50. Some say it works others say it kills all coral in seconds so I would probably wouldn't risk it.

Potassium chloride seems promising. Never heard of it used as a coral dip before but a lot of sps enthusiasts seem to swear by it lately. Will try it next time and report back on my results

Yes I did exactly that by accident (thinking I saw a thread that said new formulation is ok). So I ran the experiment on different types of corals (different SPS and LPS)
It is definitely NOT OKAY.

I just had a relative that lives in another state order it for me.

Just get someone from somewhere else to drop ship it for you

Ya it ain’t 50/50. It’s more like 90-100% of acros and variable amounts of LPS depending on type. It just should not be used. It’s not a risk. It’s a fact. My experiment was over 6 months and repeatable/consistent.

eBay will ship it to you. You'll end up paying more than retail though, unfortunately.
