Sounds like an awesome setup. Checking your build thread now.

Certainly sounds like the way forward, ultimately.

I’ll be starting very slow, with soft and LPS first. The calcium reactor seems a bit over kill for a couple of frags :D

I do have some DIY 2 Part sorted so will probably use that to begin with and migrate to the calc reactor a few months down the line. My wallet could also do with a little rest :D Big tank = expensive equipment as I’m sure you’ll understand [emoji106]

Thanks. Yeah it takes time getting all the equipment for the big aquarium. Think of the calcium reactor as the main stabilizer for your aquarium. On the big aquariums its the easiest way to maintain alk at a budget. If you maintain your alk with all the other parameter.....corals are easier to keep from their on out. That is of course after the initial investment. ;)

2 part will do you well until you get your calc reactor hooked up to your controller. Buy it in pieces. Holidays is coming so there will be some really good sales. I have a Geo reactor and love it. I recommend them.

Hybrid or multiple products, kalk for calcium and carbonate, Red Sea Colors C and D, Triton for potassium and manganese, TLF for iodine.

Yes, like this also. I had an ICP done recently and it flagged that my manganese was non-existent, probably due to the Chaeto, so I have made a fairly high strength 1-litre bottle that will last a very very long time for around $10. I do like a bit of DIY to save money.

A friend locally has one, will probably pop over to see him at some point so I can see one in the flesh. It looks cool and definitely appeals to my inner geek :D

I agree on using a calcium reactor. If you go that route, don't skimp on the regulator or CO2 needle valve.

With no water changes, wouldn't using two part end up skewing the ionic balance?

I'm running a Kalk Stirrer inline with my ATO. I also have hW Weigandt Tracetip 1 and 2 dosed daily on my 210 truely mixed reef. LPS, SPS, shrooms, Acro, etc. i set this tank up a year ago, and have not done a single water change :). I also have a 20G chaeto fuge lit with a kessil and a par 38 grow light.

Oh I forgot to add. When you are not doing water changes, keep in mind that your protein skimmer is pulling out salt water so keep an eye on your salinity and add salt as needed.

If you are adding alk, calcium and magnesium you are actually raising salinity. Happened to me and my salinity went up to 41 ppt in half a year. Not good for the corals ;)

Yeah, will have to keep an eye on salinity to see how skimmer/evaporation/adding 2 part or calcium reactor all work with each other. Will try to find a balance.

So glad I posted this as it has given me some great insights and ideas.

That's what occurs when you're dosing ESV B-Ionic (Alk & Ca) 2 Part plus ESV Magneisum as it tend to raise salinity level. I check my salinity level in between my weekly water change.

I use different brands:
Fauna Marin Color Elements
Aquavitro Fuel, Ions, Vibrance,
Seachem Fusion 1 & 2, Strontium
Brigthwell Potassium
TLF Reborn calcium reactor media & Acropower
