My nitrates are at 0 and I'm trying to raise those slowly, and my phosphates are currently at 0.03 with Hannah ultra low phosphorus checker...my skimmer barely pulls out anything because of such low nutrients right now because I just got done going fallow in my tank....I just don't have a clue what this is?? Is it cyano? I pray not Dino's ....

I run a refugium and gfo also and all the corals and rocks with stuff on it, IS in high flow....as for lights I run 3 radions and 4 T5 bulbs for 4 hrs on my 220 gallon tank....

My 4 bulbs are 2 KZ generation 2 bulbs, 1 blue plus, 1 purple plus

Radions max out at 55% with whites, reds, and greens maxing out at 24%

Flow I have 2 mp40s and 1 rw-15 and 1 rw-20

Look like a cyano.
Any changes in dosing? VIbrant vinegar or vodka?
How old is the tank?
Am I correct that you added fish back in, began feeding again and this poped up?

What are you feeding?

I don't dose anything

Tank has been running for about 8 months or so now

And yes I added fish back in the tank now for over 2 months now...

Nitrates read 0 every time and phosphates super low also....just weird...

Only other thing I could think of is I ran a geismann 6500 k bulb as one of my bulbs for about a week....not sure if that has anything to do with anything

Yea the difference in spectrum could have done it. Some folks adding t5 get an outbreak.

It's been my experience that if I overfeed (sick fish low nutrints etc) it's usually about two weeks before I'd see any real results or changes. So it could be the biofilter ramping back up and it just missed some.

Okay gotcha! So what should I do?? Normal Water changes? Cut back on t5 lights? Chemiclean?

Got it! Thanks man!! Appreciate it! What about turning off t5 and only run radions?

Oh and its still a kind young tank too, so its not unusual.

If your not already, id look into dosing calcium and alk. two part ot Kalk. your stony corals will love you. so will the PH.

nahh. The cyano will help burn up whatever its feeding on..

I have been dosing with bubble magus doser and I dose alk and calcium already....alk solid at 7.8 and calcium 420 ish and magnesium I don't dose but is about 1250ish

I also use Red Sea blue bucket salt

Ok cool..

How long should I give it before I try chemi clean?
Im probably WAY to patient for that question. I've always beaten cyano without it.
But for most Id say a couple of weeks.
IME the results of overfeeding generally take two weeks to show any results(cyano, algae) and longer to remove those results or get numbers back down.

Save yourself the frustration and work, just use the Chemiclean, follow direction, add an additional O2 source, I use a simple air pump and air stone, wait 48 hours and do a water change. I use Chemiclean successfully and without incident.
If Chemiclean does not knock it down, then it's likely Dino.
