I think it might be hair algae

I only notice it on the spots the snails don’t feed

It may be hair algae, difficult for me to tell in that pic. How old is the tank?

The tank is almost 3 months old

Ok... you have a young tank.

Over the course of the first year, you will get blooms of different things. As the tank matures, it is like ly to self correct. In the mean time, keep a tooth brush handy for manual removal.

I also notice you have some good coraline algae growth on the live rock. Typically, you don't get that amount of coraline growth in the first 90 days, which is why I asked.

My tank is 5 1/2 months old and I think I have the same stuff. Whatever it is is relentless. I use a turkey baster and a tooth brush to remove and within a few hours it’s starts to come back. In the past month or so I’ve seen green hair algae and what I think were dinos. A blackout and UV sterilizer helped with those.

My turbo snails starter eating it when they ran out of normal algae to eat, now they compete for the stuff, and btw I have red rock not coraline algae.
