What type of algae is this

it's starting to grow on rocks too here and there

Now that I've had more time to think about it, I'm going to guess Boergesenia forbesii. I'm assuming you don't have any herbivores in your tank at the moment (e.g. tangs)? I'll link an article below that goes over some of the techniques of removal. There are a lot of myths out there, so I would start here as opposed to some of the more questionable advice you might encounter

The article does not cover heterotrophic bacterial products (as well as some other products) that purport to deal with Valonia. I'll leave that up to you as to whether that's a road you want to go down. I personally don't advocate their use for this application at this time, but I wanted to bring it to your attention so you could make your own decision.
