What type of algae is this ? I took this picture early this mourning under white light without the blues on. It started about 2 weeks ago and is growing rapidly. I have a small tang and fox face, about 20 hermits several snails and 1 small emerald crab. They don’t appear to be interested in eating this algae. I have 20 more hermits and a few more small emeralds coming from reef cleaners. I just started to treat the water with 15 mls of vibrant 5 days ago. Should I be doing something different or stay the coarse.
I do weekly 10 % water changes . It is a 120 gallon tank, 1 year old , nitrates 20-25 ppm and phosphates close to zero although the phosphates did spike prior to the algae out break.
I am running a skimmer with 2 BRS reactors , 1 carbon and 1 GFO reactor. ( GFO reactor was added after the phosphate up tick ) I had a refugium going until I added the vibrant but since moved the Chaeto to a holding tank until the vibrant treatments are over. I can not remove the rock to treat it with hydrogen peroxide.

I am concerned about the long hair fuzzy algae in between the rocks on the right not the fine algae .

I hadn't seen that. That is green hair algae. What is your clean up crew?

My CUC consists of several different types of snails from reef cleaners including dwarf ceriths, nassarius,Florida ceriths and neuritis. I have about 20 hermits and 1 small emerald. One fox face and a tang. I have 20 more hermits a few small emerald crabs and 4 small conchs coming next week.

That's a good CUC. Add a few Mexican Turbo snails and they will make short work of that GHA.
