Hello all! First post.

I looked around and could not figure out what kind of algae this is. It came from a used tank I bought.
What are the suggestions for getting rid of this algae?

Look’s to be bryopsis. To stop bryopsis, you must pull all you can by hand and then remove the roots with a dental pic or small crochet needle
If you don’t remove roots, it will keep coming back
After removal, add emerald crab and chiton snail to assist with prevention

Thanks for the reply? I've been looking into the bryopsis and definitely seems like a really big pain to remove. I'm not seeing the signature fern look that is talked about when talking about bryopsis. Could this just be the start of some thicker stock GHA?

Not always is it fern like but more so by the roots

My experience with the manual removal of this stuff is that it definitely is attached stronger than the stem (or whatever it'd be called). When pulling on it the piece brakes before detaching from the rock. Would that be an indicator of it being bryopsis rather than GHA? Or does that not matter.

I have ordered Reef Flux Fluconazole as well as Vibrant. I'm planning on doing the manual removal, dosing the Fluconzole per the instructions, and then once the Fluconzole has run its course I will start with the Vibrant treatment. Seems like it may be overkill, but the used tank was very neglected and lots of nuisance stuff growing in it.

"Thanks for the reply?"
Didn't mean to use a question mark on that comment. Made it seem like a sarcastic statement. Was kind of jumbling my thoughts before I finally hit send. Whoops!

Although flux can attack bryopsis, it can do the same with coral. It’s an alternative and In many cases not a solution
Realize it’s a chance you will take
