I am getting close to putting up an anemone / clown harem tank. I saw the BRS series awhile back (quite some time ago actually now that I look how old it is hah) and I was hooked... just haven't had time to finish all the details. But that wait is almost over =)

I have decided for sure that I want to have a few Gigantea and magnifica anemones. I really like the blue / purple / green colors that these offer, plus they get large. At first I didn't want any BTAs but the tank is pretty large and I think it will be too difficult to fill it with anemones unless I also add BTAs and count on prolific splitting.

My favorite clowns are the Lightning maroons but I don't think I am going to risk trying a clutch of them in a harem setup - unless someone tells me they've done or seen it work and then I'd be pretty happy =P... My next favorite is Clarkii but I am probably going to go with an orange variety of ocellaris since the ocellaris is the only one I've seen that has been demonstrated to work for a reasonable length of time.

With all that in mind... what variety of BTA should I go with? Which ones look the best with orange clowns? I am currently undecided. Granted I've only seen these in photos, but I am leaning towards Black Widow or Sherman anemones for the red color. Thinking Sherman would be nice for the size (largest BTAs that I've seen?) but the Widow is just sharp looking. Is the black widow a safe choice to mix with gig/mags? I've read that some captive bred anemones do not play nice with other anemones.

Chicago sunburst 100000%!! Super pretty and profitable.

The CSB is one that I've read will almost certainly die due to contact with the other nems, no?
Not sure oof we need a nem specialist. I do know that nems of different types/species will fight. Not sure about BTA and BTA.

Well they are certainly one of the most attractive options!

If you want to mix anemones the CSB is a no go. Black widows are also finicky with other nems . Shermans and orange clowns have a great contrast.

Ooo thanks for the warning. I almost ordered a black widow to see the color in person.

Good morning! Any more advice here? Any knowledge would be appreciated =)

Hi! Not a nem specialist but I do have a lot of nems and experience with them. I love my rainbow specifically, it’s gorgeous. I also have a black widow but I feel like it’s so-so compared to my RBTA. I had a CSB but it died for absolutely no reason which really freaked me out. I love my RBTA more than anything and ive never seen anything like it except for a ‘Forest Fire BTA’ from some retailer out of Australia. Two babies one under ecotechs and the other under AI Prime HD and my main mother under HD.

Not a bad plan. Just pretty sure I won't get that full look without them. Thanks for the vote of reason =)

I have rose? BTAs and they have taken off. Finally added a Gig, and plan to add a Mag, but not until the Gig gets big/established first...... but my local shop has a reasonably priced Mag right now, so I am trying to resist the urge
