I have glass but it's sitting next to the tank...spent forever cleaning it. Tried Half glass....that didnt last much longer.
So it's open top.

Do have to wipe the lights down about once a week but at least it's not twice a day.

I made a pretty simple canopy that sits on top of my 90Gal. the top is mostly open and covered with egg crate with holes cut out for my Kessils to hang down with zero light spill over. I have a second upper canopy about 3' above the tank that the lights hang from and has a little storage room. works well for my setup. I like the way the larger upper canopy hides that the tank is almost a foot from the wall. Kind of makes the tank look bigger than it is to me.

Nice Screen top......what's the size of your tank? Looks like a standard top by them.
You didn't have to make any adjustments for your Apex Feeder.....does the food have any problems getting through the screening ?

Hello! So this was a standard top from Artfully Acrylic for my tank, the red sea reefer 350. Its about 47x20"

All I did was ask for a cutout for the feeder and they do the rest. Its made so it wont interfere :)

I have always used a glass canopy for my tanks, I guess I'm a little old school. I know I can hear one of my fish popping the top of the water at times so I am afraid to remove it. I see others go topless and some using screen.

If topless, have you lost any fish because of it?

If using screen, what type?

Any help is appreciated as I am unsure which way I want to go, remove top and hope for the best, get a screen or keep using the glass...
A lot of the time a suicidal fish will do it regardless. I'm topless and always will b nothing like looking in on top so that 1 fish is either tuning away and jumping like fish do in the wild 2 avoid a preditor so it's 1 or those. That's y I stay 2 clowns and mandarins.

I use a canopy just as much because I don't want light bleed as much as I want to keep my fish off the floor. My TV is only about 10 feet from my tank, so I I cannot tolerate light bleed. It would be pretty bad because the lights are nearly seven feet off the ground. (Very old pics, but you get the idea)
