I traded a piece of Xenia for this coral at my local store. They recently lost their salt water person and weren't sure what it was. Can anyone tell me?

Possible pocillopora

Great trade!

for an sps they are on the easier side of things.
They won’t hurt anything unless they touch one could sting the other. It doesn’t have long stinging tentacles or anything, it tends to play nice lol.

they have been known to let out spores and grow in Other other areas of the tank. This may be just the green version- but I’ve had some green for quite some time and mine didn’t do this- but I’ve read that others have had problems with it popping up in unwanted areas of their tanks.

but in my opinion- it’s a good starter sps coral, usually has good polyp extension, grows fairly fast compared to other sps, and is over all a nice coral.

Score!

Good sps if u are getting into them. Just keep water quality stable give them good flow and necessary light and it should reward u. Hey if it starts to reproduce that’s an added plus. I’d rather have pocillipora pups then demon Xenia mats taking over the real estate. I do enjoy pulsing Xenia on their own bommie.
