hello fellow reefers ,
I don't know much about sumps .. what kind of overflow do I have .. does anybody have suggestions or advice over this over flow .. it was dismantled when I got the tank .. how high does this pipe need too be in the overflow ??? Please help ????

Zoom out more towards the top of that pipe. Also is there any more pipes or wholes going into that tank?

There are no more holes just one .. there is a cap on the pipe with a small hole in it .... the pipe itself has horizontal slits in it till about half way down .

Going off of that, looks to be a custom sump pipe for a certain amount of water flow. The only true way to know how much water you can flow is buying an adjustable sump pump like a D.C. Pump. The whole on top is a breather so that it can be adjusted for draining/ noise. What size is the tank?

In my opinion though it is a bad design. You will need to clean all those slits when water starts over flowing or stuff is getting clogged.

Thanks scooby .. it's a 90 g Juwel rio .. diy conversion.. I didn't do it though .. so ok any suggestions

Well leave it like that and just clean it out or do what I did and remove it and add a top cover to reduce the noise. I went a bit more into it and drilled another whole on the side of that and added a supply. Let me see if I have a picture. This was done on my old 245g acrylic tank.

I bought the tank secondhand .. I also got the return pump with it .. sump is a bit on the small side i think 50 liters .. I have a 63 liter to put in instead
