It's a type of (Zoa) zoanthids or (Play) palythoa

Need to be careful with those. They could have toxins stored up.

How can i go about caring for these without getting poisoned by the toxins?

Appear to be Palys. . . . . No cautions. Best is to wear gloves, latex or ones as pictured below. I simple wash my hands well after touching or transfer. I use my aqua Gloves if moving it around. Simply keep your hands out of your eyes/face and you'll be ok.

Well,
If they are plays???, and only on one rock. I would toss them.

Depending on the specs:
Some plays can go off, and can smoke an entire reef in less then 24 hours.

Not sure, there closed up and could be zoas.

Have no prob. with zoas in a reef, but your first shots did look like plays, to me too.

Omg I wouldn’t have thrown those out! They look like mohawk’s, they are moderately valuable and really pretty. Nothing to be afraid of with palys or zoas. Oh man that breaks my heart you threw it away

Rip and i got them for 10 bucks at lfs. I think ill just go with montipora sigh...

Anyone here who throws out coral or tells other people to throw out coral is wasting corals. I have kept all sorts of palys and zoas and they are one of the most rewarding and satisfying to look at. Yes, they are toxic and should be handled with care but they are often worth quite a bit of money for good ones and are beautiful.

These are by far one of my favorite corals and one of the only soft corals I keep.

My personal ones have gone from this to this in just two months the most impressive growth is hidden by the tang.

I have doubled all of them super quickly.
