What type of reactor to run??

Im going to make a DIY reactor soon, but im not sure what type of media i should design it for. im thinking either a dual reactor for carbon and GFO or a single bio pellet reactor. Tank is 30g and sump holds about 5-8 gallons, I will have a scrubber on the tank as well. What are your opinions?

Depends what you need one for. I personally only have one for carbon.

The others you mentioned are to help reduce / control elevated po4 / no3, if you don't have these issues, you don't need the media, plus there are other alternatives as you will just be adding more pumps.

35-38G total water before displacement, maybe not needing these as water changes should suffice.

Just my thought.
If any- go carbon.

So if I put something like a gate valve on it I can run whatever I want?

If you build a dual reactor, I would put valves before each canister, so you can adjust flow individually.

I dont have plans yet but i have some ideas in my head. I definitely want to run carbon and bio pellets im thinkin
